Faithful to All Creation
Psalm 36
Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains;
your judgments are like the great deep;
you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.”

What parts of creation reveal God’s greatness to you? The magnitude of space-time? The intricacy of DNA strands? The diversity of creatures? A particularly intriguing animal or tree?
We live in an earth and universe that are amazing and awe- inspiring. The psalmist turns to clouds and mountains to express the magnificence of God’s faithfulness and righteousness. Their comparisons don’t limit God; they tap in to what is amazing about God through amazing creation.
These lyrics open another layer of meaning in their praise to God. They also remind us that God’s love embraces all creation as it reaches from earth “to the heavens” and as God “sav[es] humans and animals alike” (vv. 5, 6).
